Description

Internationally recognized by performers for its beauty and simplicity, this is the most favored and famous harmonica in the world. The Hohner 1896 Marine Band Harmonica features finely chrome-plated heavy convex covers and a distinctive pear wood comb, packaged in a plastic hinged case with U.S. Marine Band photo.

The original blues harmonica with the legendary sound. The Marine Band with its traditional pear wood comb and unique cover design has been manufactured for more than 100 years and is still the instrument of choice for top professional players.

This is the harmonica we all grew up with, and it's a favorite among the old timers, however the wooden comb makes it like playing a corn cobb - it is definitely not recommended for beginners. A beginner in search of the Marine Band sound should choose a Special 20 which has a plastic comb.

10 holes, 20 reeds, 41/8" long, octave tuned, wooden comb.

All in all I think this is the best harmonica ever made.

The new harps are great, combs are fully sealed, so no swelling, factory set up is very good. These harps play really well, and are airtight, bend easily, you don't have to fight them like the M.B.s from just a few years ago.
They are now a good choice for a beginner player, if you don't believe me then do some research....it's true

Should not be your first choice.

The most overrated harmonica in the world. In its price class there are many better. Hohner makes some great harps, but this isn't one of them. Go for a Special 20, Suzuki Promaster, Manji, a Lee Oscar. Stiff reeds, soggy comb. Why fight the harp? - you don't have to.
